RBC Heritage 2023

The RBC Heritage, a tournament with a rich history dating back to 1969, holds a special place on the PGA Tour as one of just five Invitationals. Unlike regular PGA Tour events, the RBC Heritage 2023 features a reduced field of 132 players, as opposed to the usual 156, giving it an exclusive and intimate atmosphere. This means that there is no Monday qualifier, and the tournament has more flexibility in filling its field, not necessarily adhering to the Priority Ranking Field requirements.

One of the distinctive features of the RBC Heritage 2023 is its iconic venue – Pete Dye’s renowned Harbour Town Golf Links. Located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, this picturesque course has been the site of the tournament since its inception, with the exception of 1972 when the first two rounds were played at both Harbour Town Golf Links and the Ocean Course at Sea Pines. The course is known for its challenging layout, characterized by narrow fairways, small greens, and strategically placed hazards, requiring precision and strategic play from the golfers.

The Heritage has seen its fair share of legendary moments throughout the years, with past winners including golfing icons such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman. The tournament has also become known for its iconic tartan jacket, which is awarded to the winner as a symbol of their victory, adding to the unique tradition and allure of the event.

This week all eyes are on the prestigious RBC Heritage 2023 tournament. While the jacket up for grabs may not be green, the tartan jacket awarded at the beautiful Harbour Town Golf Links has captured the hearts of many of the world’s best golfers throughout the tournament’s rich history. With designated status, the RBC Heritage 2023 is set to feature a star-studded field, including many of the players who competed at Augusta National Golf Club just last week in the Masters.

Although notable players like Will Zalatoris, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and Rory McIlroy won’t be making the trip to Hilton Head, all eyes will be on the reigning Masters champion and world No. 1, Jon Rahm, as he looks to continue his dominance on the golf course. Having already secured four victories in 2023, the Spanish sensation will be vying for his fifth trophy at the RBC Heritage 2023 before the calendar flips to the fifth month of the year.

Rahm’s appearance at the RBC Heritage 2023 will be only his second time competing in the tournament, with his lone previous appearance in the summer of 2020 when the event was moved to June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Joining him in making a rare showing on the picturesque coast of the Atlantic Ocean will be world No. 2, Scottie Scheffler, adding more excitement to an already star-studded field.

Players like Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Shane Lowry, and Cameron Young, who are all household names in the golfing world, will also be on the hunt for their first victories of the year at RBC Heritage 2023.

As the RBC Heritage 2023 gears up, golf enthusiasts can expect an elite field of top players vying for the coveted tartan jacket. With its exclusive status, historic venue, and rich golfing legacy, the RBC Heritage promises to be a thrilling event that showcases the skill, determination, and passion of the world’s best golfers as they compete in this prestigious tournament.
